I bought some guppies from a fish auction once, one of them popped out tons of fry by the time I had gotten home.

Local fish auction, meetings usually start around 1:30, the fish were probably bagged an hour or two before that, a few hours at the meeting, got home with the fish probably 4:30 or 5pm. So maybe 6 hours or so bagged. I know I've seen other fish show up in the auction and there has been new fry in them too a few times.

The short bagged time probably had a lot to due with it. Also for the most part everyone seems to be good at bagging the fish, no mistakes like over crowding a bag, or too much water to air in the bags.

So are there any "signs" that they are about to drop the fry?

It's just that I have two, possibly three pregnant mollies and I've been checking and checking them and I've no idea when they are going to drop. I'd like to put them into one of those little floating fry tanks so the angel doesn't get them as they're born. But I don't want to put the poor mollie in there for a week or more waiting...
