I use alum myself because it will not kill the plants. Many plants don't take the bleach dip well at all.
Snails and eggs will be gone dosing 2 T. per gallon of water and soaking plants for a day or two or using 3 T. per gallon for 24 hours.
Alum is in the spice section in grocery stores. $3 here for a very small container but I have a lot of plants so had to buy 2.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••
