Hey there
Hello, fishy forum, my name's Ali. I am a college student from Colorado, just about to head back up for my second year at CSU. My dad is an aquarium enthusiast, and I've been helping him keep tanks my whole life. The earliest tank I can remember was an african cichlid tank, and the first one I was old enough to help set up was the subsequent discus tank. Pretty soon we had a 75g reef tank, and all our tanks were healthy and happy. But my dad is military and we soon had to move from California to Colorado. Moving all those fish and tanks was just going to be too hard, so we sold everything.
We've lived in Colorado for 3 years now, and I've been keeping bettas (the most spoiled bettas ever) for most of that time, but my dad and I both want to get back into the hobby on a slightly larger scale, despite our current space constraints. During the school year I live in the dorms up at CSU, so I'm planning a low-budget 10 gallon "dorm" tank that will be fairly easy to transport the 3 hour drive back home for winter and summer break. My dad's working on starting a nano reef in a 29 gallon oceanic biocube at home.
So that's pretty much my aquarium story. I have significant practical experience with fishkeeping, and I'm fairly well read on the subject, but this dorm tank will be my first solo endeavor. Wish me luck!
