Apparently running carbon in the filter will also help to keep the tannins low.
Have the tannins been noticeable yet?

It has very little tannins nothing I think that would affect the color in my tank. It didnt change much in a 5gal bucket.

As time goes by it might change more in the tank... warmer in there too.

But carbon will take it out in no time, and I think it's purely aesthetic.

Well I was wrong I decided to drop it in my tank and it wasnt as water logged as I thought. More soaking after all. Unless I can find a good rock to anchor to or a big enough pot to boil in.

Try burying one end in the substrate? it will keep sinking in your tank.

I would just put some rocks on top of it.
I really don't think that boiling it will make any difference.
I have had some pieces sink in a couple of weeks and I have one that I have been trying to water log for 2 1/2 yrs!lol
    Its still floating.
