I have a bulb too that gets mold and rots. So every time I do a water change I take it out of the tank and pick the gross stuff off while holding it under a running tap. I pick off all the soft parts of the bulb too. The first time I did that it stunk, but now it's not as bad and it's getting better. It's common for bulbs to get mold and rot a little. It will eventually stop having problems.
PS,
Don't bury the bulb! Once it's roots have grown long it will bury itself. Burying it can actually cause problems.
I'm not sure how strong the lighting in your tank is, but if it's medium to high you could always put in some moss balls. They're usually labeled "moss ball", but you might find them under "marimo balls". Once they get big they float around. If you want them to have babies all you have to do is tear off it's dividing cap or whatever it's called. I squeeze my moss balls out under the tap once a week to clean them.Last edited by teddscau; 08-04-2010 at 09:50 PM.
