can different types of gourami breed?
Hey everyone, i have a male and female honey gourami and also a female pearl gourami in my tank, my male has built a bubble nest and the female pearl is slightly bloated, is it possible for them to breed or not? She is off her food at the mo as well??
Thanks

I don't think honey and pearls can crossbreed. For gouramis I think the following groups can crossbreed but only becuase they are actually the same species just individual color morphs.
Yellow/blue(aka 3 spot)/opaline
Dwarf/neon dwarf/flame dwarf
Check out the page at LiveAquaria on Gouramis. It lists the species names along with the common names. Only breeds that are the same species can breed typically.

Might have been a false alarm!!!
Hi, thanks very much for the warm welcome everybody. I think my male honey got a bit excited and built a bubble nest for the female pearl but today the female is not as bloated and swimming around much more, she is still off her food though, could she be constipated as i dont see any symptoms of dropsy? Im new to keeping tropical fish, can u tell lol
I appreciate any comments you have, thanks again
