Oscar with Dempseys ?
Would this combo work? My Dempseys are 2-3 inches, my Oscar is 1 1/2 inches. I was going to buy some other fish to go in my 55 gallon, but eventually my Oscar is going to outgrow the 26 gallon I have him in.

Oscars sometimes grow bigger than 1ft in captivity. I have seen specimens larger than 40 cm / 16 inch but the are excetions to the rule. This means that a 55 gallon eventually will be bit small but oscars can be kept for a extended period of time in an aquarium of that size.
