30 Gal. Dwarf Cichlid tank
I'm looking for a pair or preferably more dwarf cichlids for my 30 gal tank.
The current housing is: 8 Tiger Barbs, 5 corys, 1 rubber lip pleco.
I've tried my luck with Kribs unsuccessfully. They always breed than become hostile towards each other.
Are there any other options for my tank or should I stay away from cichlids?

Bolivian Rams
When in doubt, do a water change.

As long as you creat hiding places for the Bolivians, it should be ok. Caves, driftwood, tall pants will help. Start with a matched pair, or a single male.

I'd recommend something a little more competetive than Apisto's or rams ti mix with tiger barbs. If you want something that will stand a chance of succesfully raising fry in the tank I have a young established pair of cutteri available, also have over 100 2" juvies needing new homes.

More colorful but not likely to rasie fry in the same tank, I have a spawn of Australoheros oblongum fry coming along. They're still less than 1", won't be ready to ship for another month or two.
Adult male:

Fry:

A pair of either species would fit well into a 30, males grow to about 5", females about 3.5".

Pairs will tend to spawn and, after the fry are gone, the male will usually pick on the female a bit. Not sure why, but i know my bolivian male will have nothing to do with my female for nearly a week and then he will start displaying and acting all friendly to her again when he feels he's done being moody. I think todd's suggestions are good (wish I could get some of those Australoheros oblongum;) ). Something with a little more bite to their name will stand a better chance with barbs. Tigers aren't evil but I still probably wouldn't put them in with german rams or apistos
