    Default How many clowns?

    0 Not allowed!
I have recently started up my 26g tank with the view of eventually adding my favourite clown loaches. I know these guys grow big, so I was wondering how many I could have in my tank, and roughly how long they could stay in it comfortably without getting too big?

I was hoping to add 3 of them - How long will it take a baby clown to reach, say, 5 inches? Are we talking months/years?

I vote zero. They get over a foot long and need groups of six.

That would depend on how long you planned to keep them in this tank. Loaches are slow growers and live for 20 years so you need to plan on having them for a long time and in a large tank when they began to mature. Altho they eventually get very large, it may take them 3 years before they even reach 5".

Unless you know for sure you will be having a large tank in a couple years, I see nothing wrong with the smaller tank "for awhile". They're sold very small at many LFS.

PS.....unless you know for sure you can have a 75-100 gallon in the next year or so, I would pass on the clowns.

It really depends how big they are when you get them. If they are already pretty big i wouldn't get many but if there small then maybe a few, i know ism not giving lengths. Also they will need a much larger tank but they do grow rather slow.
