I know everybodies going to say "oooohhhh" or "Aaaahh" followed by "itll die" but for those of you who know the species i keep will already have said this....

Anyways. Am getting one alongside my achilles tang when he arrives, but wanted to know apart from the usual blurb on the www, has anybody got any actual experience of keeping them and got any little secrets or tips they want to share??

Idols need both algae and sponge in their diet, so a frozen preparation designed for large angelfish containing both would helpful. The only problem with Idols is shipping and getting them to eat proper foods. Once those hurdles are overcome, Idols can be fairly easy to keep, rather tang-like, but those hurdles are indeed high.

Were I you, I'd start it eating with live Mysis shrimp, gradually weening it to frozen prepared.

cheers dave, so well established live rock (got that), angelfish rations (feed that) and live food (dont feed that...) suppose ill start getting hold of a supply of good suppliers of live food then... (again)..

Shipping is not a worry as my supplier will pick if up from bristol, be in a bag for 2-3 hrs, then the feeding process begins....

    Anyone else got anything??
