watching angelfish breed
As some of you may know I breed fish for a living. Well unfortunately my landlord decided to have an exterminator spray for bugs as a preventive measure and did not tell any of us that lived in the building. I came home to find all of my fish dead except most of my goldfish and plecos. And my ferret and turantula were also dead. I was so pissed I called the landlord and asked if they had the place sprayed and they said yes so I proceeded to tell them what happened and rip them a new one.
Ok long story short I've moved in with my parents and filed a civil suit against my old landlord and went back to work at a slaughter house.
My mother having pity saw how devastated I was by the whole ordeal took it upon herself to "rescue" a pair of black angelfish and 3 corydoras (tank and all). My parents talked to a friend of mine that works at the pet store I was selling fish to and the 3 of them set up the tank (55 gallon) in my room while I was at work. That really brightened my spirits a lot when I saw it.
Here it is 5 weeks later I had the JOY of watching my new pair of black angels breed!! I'm excited again!!! I had been breeding angels for over a year and I have never been able to witness such a beautiful act of nature. All I can say about it is: WOW!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!
I will post pictures asap!Last edited by jarjarbinks42981; 06-13-2010 at 04:22 AM.
Goldfish bowels should be banned by law everywhere. Don't torture that fish by putting it in such a tiny space.

Ya know, that landlord was totally negligent. Anyone with a bird, cat or dog could have died just as easily. I hope you take him to the cleaners.

Yep, take em.
I am fortunate enough to have my own house and a wife that listens, I converted to open top tanks and the day that happened I broke very single sprayer in the house be it hair spray or scurbbin bubbles.
I too breed for a living and at this point in time cannot take any risks as I pretty much need a 100% survival rate to make the bills.
I do know that in this state they are not allowed to enter the apartment or rental unit by law without atleast a 24 hour minimum notice. I personally would pursue animal cruelty charges, that ferret sealed that charge.

Good news!
Ok sorry it been a little too long since my last post. I had internet issues with my blackberry and my parents have dial up that dosnt work right.
The angel fish ate all the eggs which I know is normal for a few times. Whats cool about it is I now have a 10 week old puppy (yellow lab and golden retriever mix)that seems to be as fascinated by fish as I am. Well anyways she was yipping and woke me up this morning. When I sat up to see what she was doing, she was sitting in a chair (that's by the tank for my viewing of the fish) wagging her tail and watching the fish. She kept looking back and forth between me and the tank so I got up and went over to the tank to take a look and I saw it. A NEW BATCH OF EGGS! I'm thinking I got a smart puppy! I'm hoping they don't eat this batch because I really want to restart my breeding operation again and I don't want to continue working in a slaughter house.
As far as my civil suit goes the judge referred the case to "state large claims court" and off the record he told me that he believes that I may be awarded a sum of $500,000 or more and the landlord may be facing several criminal charges including multiple counts of felony "cruelty to animals" and felony business sabotage (A.K.A. Espionage) depending on the outcome of the civil suit.
On another note I now have convinced my parents to let me setup a saltwater tank in their living room and buy them fish of there choosing. Dad don't care what kind of fish but, mom wants clown fish. This is gonna be fun!
I will keep you all informed of what's going on.

You should try hatching the eggs in a one gallon glass jar. I used to breed Angels. Put them, an airstone and a few drops of antifungal med and keep them low 80's. Once hatched you can move them all to a 20g for the first month or so.
You can start culling at about a month old. Lots of water changes are a must for healthy angels.

I am also gonna recommend a glass jar or atleast a 10g for the eggs on their piece of whatever with an air stone.
Ive had a pair that have been breeding for 3 years and they still eat their eggs unless I segregate.
