I took my alum. canoe out salmon fishing in Victoria. I was useing live herring; Mooching as its called. Suddenly I felt something solid brush the bottom of the canoe 1/4ile out. I was sitting down low again and again I would feel and hear this brushing noise. My rod took a sudden dive; Fish on and away we went around a small protected bay. Pulled by this thing, it was staying down and I was worried about the light tackle I was useing. 15lbs test and a light action rod. I caught a few whoppers there. I was targeting Chinook salmon, they will go 70-80lbs. here. I managed to play it out enough to get it up to take a look at what I had. I already knew what it was, Chinooks have a very heavey, head shakeing habit of deep dives, long runs out or come straight at you.
At my first sight of it at about the 10 foot down I saw not one but many large Fish swarming my salmon. They were 3-4 foot long school of Dogfish sharks and now they were banging the bottom of the thin alum. of my canoe. They ate half a nice fish on me. My piece weighed 17lbs. There were hundreds of them cruseing just under the surface as I brought my piece of salmon in and I must say honestly it scared me. I do not know why, but they seemed to be very interested in the bottom of my canoe and Kept bumping it. So I Baited up, threw in my line and caught numerous 20 - 30lbs. sharks. Gets your adrenaline working for sure.

canoe/kayak fishing is kind of crazy. Specially if you're little hawaii in shark land, I would not have felt very comfortable in that situation. They may have been bumping your canoe because of the color being similar to that of a fish, and it would have seemed incapacitated to them, or at least an easy target.

Yeah NG, I'm a fan of a bigger boat too.
No matter how much I learn or know I'm still gonna be a NOOB, but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot!

I think the most extreme fishing I've gone was using a canoe and catching pike, perch, and trout.

I think my favorite part of the vid, was when he's in the water making the gurgling noise, and is saying stupid geese
