i have about 5 in a african cichlid tank and they do just fine off brine shrimp, flake and normal fish cichlid foods. they are semi aggressive in my tank and only seem to fight a lil' over food. they're nice!

They would be a great fish for a properly setup Tanganyikan tank. The pH is much higher in that lake and I believe so is the salinity. I have seen them more lately, in at least 2 different LFS (at about 1") but they still seem to be pretty rare in the shops.
