    Default Royal Pleco Setup

I was wanting to consider getting a single Royal Pleco to keep with a few other fish (e.g. an angelfish) and I was wondering if a 55 gallon aquarium is sufficiently large for that.

    Thanks.

Not permantly, Royal plecos grow slow but they will easily reach around 14" in the home aquarium. If you opted for a small royal and grew it out you would have a couple of years before needing to move the fish on to somebody else or upgrade tanks. Large Royals are also in high demand so youd have no trouble placing the fish. Just remember driftwood makes up the bulk of their diet you must have wood for them.

^^ agreed with the above. royals grow very slow, so you would have many years before it needs bigger than a 55. Lots of driftwood is a must as it makes up a good portion of their diet. Make sure you do not buy one with sunken eyes/belly as these are malnourished and hard to get the proper bacteria back in their systems.

    Thank you for your help.

And I do happen to have plenty of driftwood.
