Question Little white balls in tank?

    0 Not allowed!
    Hey everyone,
Recently this small white balls have appeared on the glass in my 16g and also on my Amazon Sword.

Anyone have any idea what these are and what their causes might be?

    Thanks,
    Kaz

What do you have stocked in your tank? Looks kinda like some kind of egg but I'm definitely no expert.

In this tank I've got 5 Zebra Danios, 3 Otocinclus affinis, 1 Dwarf Gourami, and 1 Olive Nerite Snail.

I thought they might be eggs at first too although as you've said I'm no expert.

I'm even less than an expert, but I'm almost positive those are snail eggs.

Seems you're right! I did some looking around the forums and found this thread:

I have an Olive Nerita Snail in this tank and they look exactly like the pictures. Luckily Neritas need brackish conditions for successful population growth.

IANASE (I am not a snail expert), but all the snail eggs I've seen tend to be clear clumps of gel with a dozen or so white dots. Though I imagine not all snail eggs look alike. My Danios seem to delight in attacking them and ripping them to shreds.

Yeah, that's the type of snail egg I'm used to as well from having Pond Snail outbreaks.

How do you manage that? Mine are a little more managable these days as I only need to remove maybe a dozen every couple of weeks.

I think I was over feeding my fish to begin with, and had a massive snail population problem after trusting an autofeeder while on Holiday.

Those are nerite snail eggs. They won't survive in fw so they're nothing to worry about. You can just scrape them off.
