WARNING- City doing Water Changes
Water companys usually do spring cleaning of the pipes, and maybe start to repair them for one way or another. I suggest watching around your area for pipes being fixed, and maybe call the water company just in case. I lost around 40-50 fish last year around this time, so be careful.

Do they not come around in your area telling you that they will be doing work on the pipes. Over here they A leave a note on the door or talk to someone whos home?

No, sometimes they send a note to the house the water if going to be off for a while, which when you get one of these notes, I would not do a waterchange for a couple of days, and check the water.

Just a thought ...
My local water company will only posts a note when your water may be off for an extended period of time.
Then they will also switch between well and lake, and add heavy chloramines for the lake water.
To try to be a bit proactive, I purchased a filtration system that removes all metals, most salt and a lot of other contaminants.
The original investment wasn't exactly cheap but this has served me well. To bad it can't pull the chloramines....
I will also test the output of the filter prior to starting the weekly water changes.
Anyway, just a thought.

This is another reason why I get my water from a natural spring. Neutral PH, no chlorine and no sodium.

If I...
If I had access to a natural spring, the City of Los Angeles would find a way to deprive me of the water and call it an improvement.

City just got done with this here last month and of course my pH plunged for a while. I got no note on my door but a large note was stuck to the bulletin board in my apartment complex. I would imagine any notations would be affixed to your last water bill.

When they flush out the system in the spring I usually get a small amount of ammonia and a ph drop but only for a few days. The water is pretty brown though so its not easy to forget. They do warn us but not always in advance
