10 Gal Stocking
I had a couple questions about how many fish I could fit into my 10 gallon tank that is almost through its fishless cycle.
-I really like barbs and was wondering how about how many cherries or tigers I could fit in my tank. (I would go with a school of all one type rather than mix 'n match)
-If I wanted to add some ghost shrimp would I need to take away any barbs?
-Whats a solitary fish that I could add that the barbs wouldn't pester.
-Instead of barbs, how many neons could I fit?
-And in general whats a good, hardy, tropical mix for a 10 gal tank?
I appreciate it a lot

A smaller sized school of cherry barbs would do fine in a 10 gallon.
Ghost Shrimp Should be fine.
You could try somthing like a Sparkling or Dwarf gourami. Maybe a platy or 2.
The amount of neons that would fit depends on the other fish... If it where just the neons you could do around 10. If you decide to go with somthing like a sparkling gourami than I would just do 6-7 neons.
A really good mix (I think) would be a school of a smaller sized tetra and a betta. Or a school of smaller sized tetras and some corrys.
Good Luck and Welcome to the Forum!!

tiger barbs wouldnt work at all, and the cherrys might be a streach too.
Have you had your daily dosage of Pele?

Thanks for the quick answers. I've narrowed it down to getting either a school of 10 Serpae Tetras or a school of 6 Serpae Tetras and a Dwarf Gourami.

A ten gallon tank is too small for ANY fish. Period.

There are plenty of fish that can live happily in a 10 gallon....unless you object to keeping fish in general.

Let's keep such broadly stated inaccuracies away from here. A betta or small school of small fish would be very happy in such a tank.

It's an opinion. Everyone on this site has their own personal, strong opinions and advice on what they deem appropriate to put in a tank.

Yet you stated it as fact not an opinion. Perhaps instead of trying to stir the pot you might enlighten us on your thoughts of an "Appropriate" tank size and just why your opinion is what it is. What is the basis of your opinion. Do you have anything constructive to add instead of a broad all encompassing statement that by most logic is false.

Gotta love blanket statements.
