Nitrate Management
I understand Nitrates can be ok in a tank. I also understand the higher they get can cause stress, disease, and death.
I use a UGF system on all my tanks with fluval canisters. I test my tanks often and more often when adding fish to them. Very consistent with water changes.
I have very little spikes on Nitrate. For example, I added approximately 25 fish to the 125 FW tank. My Nitrate went up to 20ppm. Still a ok level, but I choose to keep it lower than 10 or zero in my tanks.
They have been at those levels since putting them up 3 1/2 years ago.
I got away from using Easy Balance with Nitraband but started back using this product because it works very well. By using this product I have eliminated any spikes in Nitrate, stabilized my PH and KH levels reduces nitrates and phosphates.
I'm not trying to promote a product just simply letting you know that it works for me. I've noticed alot of people saying they have spikes in their Nitrate and simply only do water changes to manage spikes. Just wanted to let you know that their is a product out their that does do what it says it is suppose to do.

Water changes do more than nitrate reduction. They reduce the accumulation of other substances in the aquarium water which we can not test for.
With that said, can you elaborate on the nitrate reduction results of the product? What type of reduction did you see?
Also to what degree did it reduce phosphates to?

Nitrate reduction to zero, phosphates I did not test for. I understand the value of water changes and what it does for the chemicals we don't test for. Was just a post to make people aware of the fact water changes and nitrate removal work for me with this product. Actually I use another product that removes Phospates to zero and doesn't leach back into system and works for 6 months.

I've used the product before and it did absolutely nothing for me. I gave up on it and started doing more water changes. Glad it works for you though.
When in doubt, do a water change.

Added another 20 neons to the tank today along with 6 white skirt Tetras. The other day I added 10 neons, 5 Angels, 6 Priestila Tetras. Thats 47 fish with no spikes of anykind. In my 125FW tank their is about 160 to 170 different fish. Including but not all. Black Neons, lemon tetras, diamond tetras, golden tetras, white tip tetras,Black skirt Tetras,Longfin Black skirt Tetras, Buenis aires Tetras,Golden Buenis aires Tetras, Bloodfin Tetras,Cardinals,Black Phantom Tetras, Von rio Tetras, Rashboris, Silver hatchets, Marble Hatchets, Rummy Nose Tetras, and a few others I can't think of. I run a UGF with a 205 and 405 fluval along with the 6 tubes for UGF and 3 additional airstones. Water changes consistently. I have no algae problems or any health issues with the fish. I also have a 75FW along with a 37FW. Equally over stocked with massive amount of different fish.
