Lots of people I have talked to say to stay away from Instant Ocean... I use Oceanic Sea Salt Mix and it is fine... I have heard that Seachem Salt is great too.

I use the Instant Ocean Reef Crystals...no complaints...
Emmanuel - any details on why to stay away from Instant Ocean? I don't even test my mix anymore before adding it, it was so consistent every mix.Last edited by sheamurai; 05-05-2010 at 01:58 AM.

Have heard nothing bad about the reef crystals. I was actually going to use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals, but I have to order the salt either way and Oceanic is cheaper.

A couple people I have talked to (one of them is on this forum) say that it causes more algea growth than other salts. (I agree, a LONG time ago we had a tank using instant ocean, and it had tons of algea.) The reveiws weren't the greatest for it either, so I just went with oceanic.

ah...thanks...(and whew). I would hate to think I was doing my tank a disservice using "bad" mix...
Gosh, it would be nice to think that my algae problems would disappear/significantly reduce simply by changing salt...have to see what else my lfs sells, I think they only sell Instant Ocean...
