My clown loach is being a goof! He's sleeping on his back on top of a fake plant leaf.

You know clown loaches are schooling fish and need a bigger tank than you currently have. Also it sounds like there may be a problem if your loach is upside down

This is the best way to know that your loach is happy and feels really safe.
Clown loach or any other loach will not do this unless they know they can relax. Mine keep doing it all the time and it used to give me a heart attack to go to the tank and see them doing this. Grab the net and they swim off gggrrr

One of my younger ones sleeps on his back.

Don't worry, it takes ten years to get just to 6 inches. If you still aren't comfortable read this: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Oddball,...%20Loaches.htm

No it doesn't take 10 years to get to 6 ". They will be around 6" in three years.

Oh well, I read that somewhere anyways. Actually some people say the rarely grow to six inches, some say they don't exceed 3 inches, some say 10", some 30", some even 50". Who knows. Some say they live 3 years, some say 2, some say 8, some say 10, some even say 20! I have know idea. I'm going with lifespan of over 10 years growing an inch a year.

I have two that are over 7".

If you keep them in a tank the size you have it will not be good for them.

They will be stunted growth wise and they won't last long if they haven't the room to grow.

Don't worry, I'm going to eventually move up to a 55g.
