Injury or Worse?

I just noticed tonight that he has another white mark, this time on top of his head. He's always been really skiddish, but the only thing he could hit would be the filter. Here's the pictures:

I really don't want to lose this guy, so I'm being really paranoid. Maybe i should invest in a padded tank. Anyways, can anyone tell if this is just a flesh-wound, or something worse?

Its just a scrape!
Keep the water pristine by doing an extra water change or two.It will help heal an wounds.
If you see meat then add Melafix,but only if its a deep scrape.

Looks about the same as when my male goldfish (huge fellows) start accidentally snatching themselves on each other or decor or just rocks in the pond.

Are there scales that are white there, or does it look kinda bare?

They seem white, but not individual scales. it does look like he cut himself, but i can't find what on. Maybe the driftwood, but it doesn't have any really sharp parts.

Just the impact can cut it.They really can get moving!
Keep an eye on it and dose with melafix if you feel its needed.
It doesn't look like it.

k, this is the second time it's happened. I myself always enter my room slowly, so as not to spook him, but my family is fish retarded and barges in like Kraner from Seinfeld and scares the s*** out of him and he spazzes. I just don't want him messing up his pretty face, you know

You could try covering part of the tank with a towel or blanket until he's older and not so easily spooked. Gives him a secluded, dark section to dive straight into when scared, without as much risk of him spazzing enough or in circles and bopping himself on the head again.

Could you relocate the tank in your room,change it around?
How bright are the tank lights?
Covering one side will help.
A padded tank would be great! lol

If the padded tank idea isn't a option, I agree with giving him a spot to retreat to when the "Kramer's" walk into the room.

My Geo can be a spaz sometimes as hubby and The Boy walk heavy on their feet, but since I gave him a corner to go to when he's feeling unsecure, the spazzing has stopped for the most part. A couple of weeks ago he decided to do a belly flop in the tank for reasons that I still have no idea about, but he only did it that one time and hasn't done it again.
