  1. Talking So I had this empty 55gal tank...

I came up with the bright idea of making it a planted community tank. I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to fish... but I am where it comes to plants.

So this current set up so far is thus:

    55 gal tank
    Latrite/gravel layered substrate
Heater - set at approx 78*(lord don't ask me what kind but it was in a previous cichlid tank)
2 HOB filters (that will soon be replaced with a canister filter, unknown brand at this time)
Lighting 150 watts light output (2 NO lights- 75 watts each)
Rockwork (in tank but not placed yet.)
Driftwood piece that I fell in love with. (soaking in dechlorinated water)

I have all of this set up and running... waiting for the water to clear up a bit (hubby didn't rinse the laterite very well.) Now I'm just wondering... what plants would do well in this setting.

I will eventually stock the tank with the following fish: school of Harlequin rasboras, school of Tetras (not sure which yet), a pleco (maybe, not sure how they would do with plants), prolly a group of Otos, cory's (maybe) and either Pearl or Honey Gourami's.

Any help or direction would be most appreciated.
