Should I change my background to Black?
I have this fake background right now and I was thinking about going black. Should I get the black background from PETco?

I always prefer the black. Makes the plants and dish pop out at you.
Changed "dish" to "fish". oopsLast edited by Lady Hobbs; 03-25-2010 at 12:00 PM.

I have a marine background and it looked really weird when I had live plants, so I'm planning to switch it out when I do live plants again this spring and use either dark blue or black. I'd recommend you do the same, it really makes your plants and fish (and other tank inhabitants!) the focal point of your tank.

Totally agree with the black. Both of mine are blacked out and I do the same for some of my lizard tanks as well. I just find it's hard to make look most tanks right with those premade backgrounds unless you actually take the time to make the entire tank look similar to what the background is showing. Some other options, if you choose to go ahead with it, would be black foam board or some people paint the back of their tank too.

I got black and love it but just keep in mind it will make ur tank a little darker so more lighting doesn't hurt

That was my decision when I started my tank a little over a week ago. I was deciding on which background to get. I seen the background like yours. Did not like it. Then I was deciding between blue or black. I went to Petco and purchased the double sided Black/Blue background. The blue is a really darker blue, which is the side I chose. And my decor stands out.
I have no fish as of yet as I am in my fishless cycle.
