What is the longest someone has gone before they have seen any Nitrite reading when they started their fishless cycling?

    Just curious.

I can't remember exaclty, but I think it was around 1 or 2 weeks. If I remember correctly the total time to cycle my 55 gallon was a day or two off of 6 weeks. I started using fish food but then swtich to ammonia after a few days. I think that effected the time line for cycling this tank.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

It's been a little over a week for mine with fish food, and still have yet to have any increase in my ammonia, other then the 0.6ppm from my tap water. This is day #8 for me, with no increase in ammonia.

    Thanks everyone.

For the better part of the the first week my tank was somewhat cloudy. Today it really looks alot better. Really looking good.

Now just waiting for them Nitrite's to appear.
