Thread: fish behavior

  1. Default fish behavior

do fish ever flash for reasons other then ich?

  2. #2

    Default

Fish get itches just like we do, so some flashing every now and then isn't a big deal. Sometimes they also do it to show their strength if they do it on a leaf or some sand. This is usually done to either intimidate a rival or impress a female. I can understand the nervousness of seeing a fish flash a few times. After a nasty ich infestation wiped out 99% of my fish, I saw my new fish flashing and got all freaked out. Turns out he was just trying to impress his lady friend. :)

The time to worry is if more than one fish are doing it often.

  3. Default

If you see a fish flashing every once in a while that is normal. If the fish is always flashing and its color is starting to fade then keep a close eye on them.
