My 75 G. project set up.
Ok.
This topic its gonna be for my 75 g. set up.
Im planning on putting my goldfish in it soon enough.
I started this from pretty much zero.
I got the glass from a old friend that couldnt keep it any longer in his basement so i took it.
All the rest i bought it or build it on my own, lol.
This is the glass i got and the divider i made out of a 2x4.

This is with the twin light i got. (without the light on top tho)

Im still working in the stand for it, i made it out of 2x4 's and the outside, out of 10 bucks pannels , (3 of them) , some parts stained for me, and some parts just like i got them.
I ll post pictures shortly of it.

That's going to be a nice looking setup when your done. I like how you built your stand. Gives me a few ideas on how I'm going to build my stand for my 75 gallon this summer
You might want to think about finding something to replace the peace of wood you are using on the top of the tank to hold up the two lids. I would be concerned that is might start to rot and smell bad over time.
Keep us posted with up-datesIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

you could always just coat the wood with a finish which is water resistant or get pressure treated wood from a hardware store (it takes weather heat cold anything you can throw at it really haha) but i love the home made stand looks great
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013

yea
i m planning on making it half of thick, and stain it with a water proff thing.
I guess it shouldnt rot.
I also got a driftwood peace, (pretty big and pretty) but after i got it, i saw that i can make a dent in the wood, so i think its not hardwood.
Would that matter?
Because i really like the driftwood, and besides im out of money now, lol.
Im thinking in put it into water soon, so it will sink by the time i set up the tank, do i just put it in water, thats it?
Ill post a pic of it as soon as the forum lets me..(having trouble uploading pics)

The center brace in the middle should be acrylic or glass, I don't know right off the top of my head where to get a square piece of acrylic but it is available. Wood no matter what you put on it will deteriorate over time and whatever you used to water proof it could leach bad stuff into the tank.

I agree with lowlight, any type of water proofing you apply to the wood could get into your tank water. I would not risk it.
If there is a Home Depot were you live, they sell 5/8" thick acrylic 24" X 24" that might work if you would cut and double it up by glueing two pcs together with tank silicone. If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

The stand is looking good.
I do worry about using MDF.Make sure you seal it good. Its not at all water resistant.Ray
