That's a nice loach. It does seem to stare at you in the begginning when it caught you.

I'd like to get a better video of the loaches doing their filtering, so that you can really see the sand shooting out their gills. Maybe I will give them some pellets first, because they do the same thing with those - you'll see the pellet get almost all the way to the loach's neck (since they are translucent), then the loach will spit it out, then suck it up again and out the gills it will come! I got the sinking pellets just for the loaches, but I think the barbs have benefited the most from them :-)

If you watch carefully in that first clip, you can see the loach blink a little. They do that quite a bit.
