    Wow thats alot of fry! The mother was pretty strong too, it seemed she kept almost getting away from the handler.

    WoW! That was pretty cool. Thanks for the vid. I think it's amazing how all of the fry naturally knew what to do and swam right for the mother's mouth.

    That was actually the father, not the mother. The male carries the eggs for 50-60 days, then the fry for another 7-8 weeks until the yolk sacs are abosrbed. It takes 6 months for them to grow large enough to sell, average brood size is around 2 dozen.

    certainly a unique video, all I wonder is how you'd go about breeding these monsters, can you sex them at all, do they make a pair, and what kind of size poole (not tank) would you need for a pair of them?

    Yes, it is the father aro who carries the fry. Sexing aros can be done when they are larger, but near impossible when small. Males have slight overbites, while females have slight underbites. Pairing them usually requires the growout of many young arowana in same pond. Growing up together seems like the only way to get them to pair off.
