My Orange Male is acting weird. he is always at the surface with clamped fins. I notice that while he was in the bag. Why is this? I hope it's only stress and nothing serious.
Maybe. That's all the store had, unfortuantley. And can you believe that all 8 fish were slightly above $51?????? But for two of the Platys, it was worth it. I wonder if they'll have babies....Very nice!! Are you planning on getting more cherry barbs in the future?Last edited by james20; 03-01-2010 at 11:44 PM.

$51??? Are you serious??? Cherry barbs are on sale here at Petco for $1 and regularly are like- under $3. Platies here are about $2.40. But they also are sale alot in the afformentined $1 sales.
Where did you buy them? A local store or a big-box store?30g:: Planted: 1 SAE, 1 Bristlenose Pleco, 5 Guppies, 3 Platys, 1 zebra danio, 9 Rasboras

Good luck with your new babies! I hope there's nothing wrong with the one that's at the surface!
Occasionally I'll see one of my cichlids favoring one of their pectoral (sp?) fins, but they're always fine the next day. Keep us posted about him (or her)!Yup, I got fish!

Yes, $51. It was more of a local place. These are some pretty nice fish. I have never seen such good platies. I got 2 Sunburst, One bumble bee and one panda breed. The platy's even worse now. He sits on the bottom now.

...even at my local places that wouldn't be over twenty bucks. I mean, if you're happy, that's great, but, wow, dude, I'm glad I don't have to buy fish in your neck of the woods...

Thought when it comes to determining sex that males are the bright cherry red and the females more orange colored. If I got this backward, then I've got more males than females.
Cherry barbs are one of my favorites.
