What type of bulbs
I'm setting up a 10g, and in the hood there are two sockets for lightbulbs. The warning message says 25w max.
I've heard of people using cfl's. So does that mean I can use a cfl up to 25w? Also, there are plastic covers at the top of the socket, I assume so that the water can't get in there. My regular cfl's that I use in the rest of the house don't fit because of these covers.
Any suggestion (or pics or links) as to what bulbs will work? Thanks!

that rating is for incandescent bulbs and mainly limited to 25w because of the heat they produce.
The are CFL made specifically for those fixture that aren't spiralsAs I get older I find myself thinking about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

CFL's that will fit in that fixture are 'Candle' and 'Post' styles.

I use what Algenco recommended. You can find them at Walmart in the fish section.

I have that same hood that I spraypainted white on the inside to improve reflectivity. I just use mini spiral CFs from Walmart. I managed to find some that were 6500k.
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

I'd really recommend some 10w CFL's for a tank that size. They effectively put out 40w of light for 10w of power. Get them in the 6500k range and they'll make the colors pop in your tank. Also, your plants will really appreciate them if you have any. Good luck
