White film on Driftwood?
So I am setting up a new 75gal tank which is cycling right now. I have a large piece of driftwood that is still floating in the tank (it has been in the tank for just over 48 hrs), and there is some sort of white film all over the driftwood, and it seems to be making the water cloudy. Any ideas on what could be causing this/how to fix it? Thanks!

Its harmless and will go away on its own.
lol I can't stand it either. If there are no fish to eat it just give it a scrub in hot water. It cleans easy.Ray

It's normal with new wood. Just part of the curing process. Should go away on its own. If you want you can give the wood a good scrub (no soap obviously). Wont hurt anything either way.

Some store bought are dense enough to sink and some are anchored with slate.
Mine stays down because I snagged it off the bottom of a lake!

My mopani wood I bought from Petsmart has the same thing! It wasn't all over, just in some places, but now it is starting to subside (or maybe one of the fish is eating it!)
