  1. Default Mr Fishie Finally Earns a Name

When and if I name a fish, it's usually because the fish does something / has some sort of behaviour that makes a name fitting.

    If that makes any sense.

Thus far, my DG hadn't been named. When I referred to him, it was typically "blue fishie" or "big fishie" (not that he's big, but he's the biggest thing in the tank).

Well, today I got live plants for the tanks, removed a statue, replaced it with a cavey thing, and rearranged the substrate a bit. Lots more room for the fish to swim, and even though the baby cory could care less about the cave, the DG likes swimming through it. All three fish seem to appreciate the softer natural plant as opposed to the plastic ones there previously.

    Excellent.

I also got some pellets for the cory since the DG has a habit of grabbing every little bit near the surface. Putting in the pellets was an interesting exercise. The cory did get his fill, but I think the DG got more than a few mouthfuls, too. And this after his regular flake meal

Anywho, as the evening progresses, I see the DG winding his way through the new plants, and I smile ... happy that the fish like the plants so much.

Then I notice what the DG is doing. Eating the plants.

Thus the name of Gus. As in Greedy Gus.

I'm going to have to go to the grocery store tomorrow and get some frozen peas.
