okay need help this cant wait
alright, so bubbles the dwarf gourami laying on his side bottom of his tank, never approaches bottom except for when in his jar cave but hes not in there and really is right outside
tank params are amo: 0, nitrite; 0, trate; 8
water's clear
diet hasnt changed, filters been working lately, light on normal amount of time
everything normal
temps maybe a degree or two colder than normal but that wouldnt do anything
his stomach is swelled up... again.
this happened before but it cleared up, everyone thought he was just maybe constipated
but its back, and its back suddenly
and well yes, laying on his side, gasping
not even moving his feelers
im going to lose him. i know this. there cant be a way he'll survive i dont think
i still want to know what this is though
please help
i'm moving him to a shallow hospital tank i made specifically for the gouramis right now so that hes closer to the surface if he needs air
and yeah
help
A severe lack of trichogaster.
Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.

Epsom salts have laxative properties, might be worth a shot.

So sorry to hear that. I would increase aeration along with Lab Rats' suggestion. Will he eat? Try feeding some peas if he will. How long have you had him, maybe he is getting older.

Hmmm....
For Betta's it is 1 Tbspn / Gallon - but I would do this in a seperate container for 10-20 min max - think of it like a bath.

i'm thinking obviously he's badly sick. my cories hide whenever there's been any sign of disease or death in the tank. as soon as i removed the gourami they all came out and started going around again like normal.
bubbles started freaking out when i tried to scoop him up gently with a clear container as opposed to a net. he couldn't even go four inches across the tank before he gave up swimming and just let the current take him again
he's all colored up now, mainly black and dark blue with his red still pale. its the same way my blue gouramii looked and acted before he died, minus of course the stomachh sweelinng.
hate this. had to walk away from the quaratine tank as soon as i placed him in cause it was heartbreaking watching him just fall back to the bottom.
his breathing's shallower too
thnaks for the help but im really doubting that i have enough time to save hijm.
taking suggestions into account and action anywaysl.,A severe lack of trichogaster.

They are susseptible to stomach aches, blockages and blotting. FIll a small bowl with tank water and add 1tsp. epsom salts per gal. Float it in the tank to keep warm and higher temps do help for at least 1 hr. 2 if he looks unpaniced. then straight to hospital tank. If it was constipation you will more than likely see rapid recovery. The other way we treated them is to feed them boiled chickweed, it cleans them out slower if they are still eating. I don.t think a sick Gouramii is going to eat veggies
Good luck to you both.

Dead.
Died 14 minutes ago.
I thank you all for the help.
I am going to leave the body where it is until I calm down or thirty minutes has passed, whichever comes later.
Always have left the bodies of dead fish alone for at least thirty minutes.
By thirty minutes death is definitely the truth.
I guess.
Or something.
More suggestions as to the actual problem are welcome.
Excuse me while I go finish the wine bottle I was on when I originally noticed him.
