Not all plecos are compatible with Discus. Bristle Nose are popular and Golden Nuggets as well. Size (start with smaller than your dicus sizes) and ability to tolerate the higher temps 82-86F that Discus need is a factor as well.

Well discus are known to produce a slime coat and its very high in nutrients and the pleco was prob hungry and that was the only food in the tank because they owner didn't know when plecos get to a certain size YOU NEED TO FEED THEM VEGGIES NOT ALGAE WAFFERS

Duh
A) I wouldn't house a potentially large pleco with a discus
B) If I did I would ensure it was fed properly
C) I wouldn't blame the pleco I would blame myself
D) Discus don't need to get to the surface to breathe air
ffs!
