DIY Co2
I have been using a DIY Co2 setup in my tank for a few months, and so far I'm not sure if there has been any significant effect. My plants just look the same as they always have. I read somewhere that for 55 gallons and above, pressurized co2 is needed for it to have any effect.
My lighting is also on the low side, just under 2 watts per gallon. Is Co2 injection feasible at all in this situation?

I think so! If you had a better light it would help more.
Have you had much algae issues since you started with the co2?
Have your plants grown much or taken on richer colors since?Ray

to me lighting under 2wpg in a 55 is fine and adding co2 is pretty much useless. diy just doesnt work very well on a tank that size. pressurized may help but youd need more light also. my 55 and 75 are heavily planted and neither have co2

I think DIY CO2 would be a waste of time. You need to be at 20ppm minimum and staedy for the CO2 to be effective. That is hard to do with a yeast mix in that large a tank.
With 2wpg you do not really need it anyway but if you had a pressurized system you would see a difference, CO2 always helps with plant growth if it is done properly.

Well I have always had a bit of a problem with brown algae on my plants, as for their colors, I've noticed no change that cant qualify as mid over matter..

If you disconnect it let me know if the algae starts up.
I'm just curious as to wether or not it gets any worse.
I was told to use it to help control the algae in my tanks.Ray
