Most of my tanks are lacking a centerpiece lately, lol. <.<
400 Gallon Pond: Empty for the winter.
29 Gallon: No centerpiece.
20 Gallon: Golden Three Spot Gourami
10 Gallon: Empty, so I certainly hope I didn't leave a centerpiece fish in there!
8 Gallon: No centerpiece. (Formerly a Dwarf Gourami.)
5 Gallon: No centerpiece.A severe lack of trichogaster.
Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.

Nothing special about my fish and I enjoy them all so my centerpiece would be a pirates skull, a lot of the time you can see the pleco peeking out of the skulls mouth.

I don't really think any of our tanks have a centerpiece fish. I have some "favorites" in each tank but as far as one that visually stands out the most... I think they all kind of go together to create an effect where no fish has more visual impact than another.
