Fluval?
I picked up a used Fluval 203 from a fleamarket for $10. No directions came with it, but I *think* I have it figured out from the website. But there are some things I am not 100% clear on. Does it need to be primed? How? It says you need to start a vac. How? The only way I can think of is to suck on the end of the hose and hope I don't get too wet. Um, that sounds kinda bad, but.... Ok, filter. I think that was the biggest thing. Any one have or have had one of these filters? What do you think about them.

You hook it up with the canister empty. You hook it up, leave both levers in the down position (unplugged) and work the prime button until you hear it fill up and stop. Then you plug it in.

I have always started with the Fluval full of water and this has always worked better for me.

Dumb question maybe, but where is the prime button? I don't see one.

take your in-line and hold it up while someone fills it up till the canister and in-line is filled. That should get you started

i dont think the 03 series came with either the aquastop valve or the "quick" primer lever that newer models have. I *think* those were all innovations that came in the later generations of the 04 series models.
Here is a link to the 03 series manuals:

look at "filter assembly" steps 9-12

The 03s don't have a primer. Fill the canister before plugging in.

Thanks everyone. I had looked at the manual before writing this. But, for me it wasn't real clear on starting it. I am going to try it out tomorrow. I hope it works
