Will I have problems?

I was doing a partial water change on my smaller (7 gallon) tank, and had got the temperature from the 16 degrees C from the faucet up to 26 degrees C and poured it in. I then realised that I hadn't added any aquasafe so i poured some straight into the tank and mixed it around.

My question is, will my fish/filter bacteria survive being exposed to chlorine for about 5 minutes?

In my 5G I have been guilty of this, (I will be hung from the nearest tree for that, lol), if I am only topping up the tank, say 10-20%, being so small it is hard to work out the required amount of dechlorinater, without an eyedropper, so I just use water straight from tap, I have been doing this now for about 2 months, with no problems, the 5G had neons, harlequins, and 2 small yoyo loaches I was growing out, in it.

I guess it would come down to the amount of tap water added, and the species of fish, but with the above info, I had no worries.

I think you should be fine unless you have an unusually large amount of chlorine in the water. Also, with only a partial water change and being that the tank is only 7 gallons anyway, I think you're okay.

It depends on how much chlorine the city puts in the water. Offhand though, I'd say the fish will be fine, but the bacteria may have gotten nuked in the 5 minutes since the chlorine circulated through the filter.

You'll be fine. for the last month, ive accidentally added a product like cycle instead of conditioner by mistake, and 0 fish died or got diseased, and my bio-filter didnt get screwed up. 5 minutes is fine.
