  1. Cool Rare Photo - For Me

    0 Not allowed!
Actually managed to get a photo showing my red-eared and red-claw crayfish at the same time.

My red-eared is a female, shell about 9" at present. Her partner died in an accident......

My red-claw, started as an itty-bitty 1/2' "blue lobster" from a LFS. He is now just shy of 8". Yep - they start out small and cute.....

    Anyway - here they are!

They have been together about 4 months now. (Note the lack of antenna)
There is a large rock pile on one end of the tank where he hides to molt (100g).

For the most part it is grudging respect between them.
And at feeding time; turtle eats first, then redclaw gets his leftovers - chuckle.

How did you keep the turtle from eating him? My RES is just over 2in and he destroys any crayfish I put in there, even ones 3x his size, he loves sneaking up behind them and eating the tail first.

I put the red-claw in when he was at a bit over 5".
One end of the tank has a significant rock pile the terp climbs out to sun herself and caves to small for her to get into.

it has only been the last month or so that they have both been out at the same time.

The rock pile at one end of the red-eared tank.
