Rare Photo - For Me
Actually managed to get a photo showing my red-eared and red-claw crayfish at the same time.
My red-eared is a female, shell about 9" at present. Her partner died in an accident......
My red-claw, started as an itty-bitty 1/2' "blue lobster" from a LFS. He is now just shy of 8". Yep - they start out small and cute.....
Anyway - here they are!

Nice shot!
They don't look like buds though.lol
That cray should still grow a few more inches.

Buds? Not Quite...
They have been together about 4 months now. (Note the lack of antenna)

For the most part it is grudging respect between them.
And at feeding time; turtle eats first, then redclaw gets his leftovers - chuckle.

How did you keep the turtle from eating him? My RES is just over 2in and he destroys any crayfish I put in there, even ones 3x his size, he loves sneaking up behind them and eating the tail first.

Patience...
I put the red-claw in when he was at a bit over 5".

it has only been the last month or so that they have both been out at the same time."Rules NEVER apply to all of your fish..."

The Rock Pile
The rock pile at one end of the red-eared tank.
If you look at the one you can see the tail of the red-claw hiding....
