    Default Another contemplation...

Since I have kind of came to the realization that reefs dont really last that long under my care due to tearing them down and selling every few years I have thought about the possibility of a Pico...I have never ran a reef under 15G. However I have an Aqueon Evolve 4 which would probably make a pretty awesome looking little reef. Here are some things I am considering:

    Ditch stock lighting....Install Beamsworks 9x1W LED 6x10K 3xActinic

Ditch stock pump....Install AquaTop NP302. Going from 98gph to 118gph and it is supposed to be a more quiet pump.

I would simply buy bottled RO water, use Seachem Reef salt as I have a 50G mix in storage. I figure I would do around a 1/2-3/4G water change per week. I suspect that the actual volume of the tank sans substrate/rock/etc is probably around 3G so this would be at least a 25% change each week. I would not be using a skimmer...filter media would probably just be a standard filter cartridge with perhaps a piece of polyfilter.

    Sufficient you think?

Would any fish do decent in a tank this size?

Sounds good, I would just usefilter for flow or mod into a fuge, I would just get the highest quality LR you can, you will only need 3-6 pounds so not alot of money. I wouldonly have, crabs, snails, stars, shrimp, coral, and/or macroalgae in there.
A true aquarist knows what it feels like to step on a sharp piece of gravel
do as I say, not as I do- William
I think if someone thinks clownfish are called nemos they should banned from keeping sw tank.
