    I seem to remember reading somewhere that Florish Excel melts moss balls. I can't seem to find where I read it again and I'd really like to know before I pick some up.

    I think its excel is hard on algae.

    It is algae, you are right, so anything that kills algae will kill the moss ball, but make sure you are getting legit moss balls, and not balls of styro covered in algae (box pet stores have been selling those lately around here, they didn't even know until some of the algae fell off)

    Oh yes, they're real. I picked them up for $2 at a store in Jackson, MS. I split one and made a very nice thick carpet that is growing much faster than I thought it would. I other is growing well and is starting to get thick knotty patches on it.

    Yea you're crazy, but I think you are right. Excel will melt other soft plants such as vals on occasion as well.
