I love serpae tetras, though they can get a bit nippy with each other. If you dont mind that sorta thing though, theres an awesome schooling tetra you might wanna check out. Pygocentrus nattereri Quite beautiful.

Okay I made my decision on what to get...because when I stopped by petco and saw their new shipment of guppies...I just fell in love.
I'm so bad.
So I'd like to get a whole bunch of guppies!!
Should I get males AND females? Will they be happier that way or will they be just as happy with all males?
Also how many can I get without the threat of overstocking when I get my other fish later?

LOL...if you get both males and females, your 29 will be full by Christmas with fry.
When in doubt, do a water change.

LOL Well
If they'd be happier with males and females, I would find another fish for population control xD!!
If it doesn't matter to them, I'd obviously get all males to avoid it altogether!

Lo, male guppies are happiest when the ratio of females to males is around 3 to 1.
Have you tested your water for gh\kh so you know how how much mineral content is in your water? Guppies are happiest in harder water. Ph should be between 7.5 to 8.When in doubt, do a water change.

=O Oooh I didn't know they preferred harder water. I don't know my actual water hardness, but I know I have soft water with a natural pH of about 6.5 in our well, but the pH in my tank is a constant 6.8
Will this be too low for them?

I don't think so, Lo. Color....Harlequin Rasbora, Flame Tetra, Pristella Tetra would do better in soft water with a PH of 6.5 to 6.8.
When in doubt, do a water change.
