Yes mostly, they inhabit slower moving waters like ponds. They like there female, but the female has to be able to hide and run away from the male.

ohh well...thought I did my research enough because everything I looked up said it was ok as long as it couldn't fit the other fish in its mouth. Guess I'm screwed.

That is a sharp looking fish, since it seems to b an agressive fish anyone ever tried it in an african cichlid tank?

You aren't screwed untill it actually eats your other fish. What are the other fish in the tank?

Nice fish - a word of caution - even though it hangs out at the surface almost all of the time, they'll hunt down prey anywhere in the tank.Show tanks - 125, 125, 90, 10, 5

allthough generally true there are some species including this one that usually do well in well planted community tanks. I have kept and bred them in community tanks. A good part of the eggs and fry suprisingly survive to adulthood in community tanks even if they are kept with fast fish.

Saying killis are not community fish and should only be kept in a species tank is like saying the same of cichlids - while it is true for some, it's certainly not true for others.
