pH and cycling
I read this about pH and cycling
The optimum pH range for Nitrosomonas is between 7.8-8.0.
The optimum pH range for Nitrobacter is between 7.3-7.5
My water tests at 8.2 with the ammonia in the water. will this inhibit growth?30g goldie tank :1 x Red Cap Oranda 1x Fantail

That info come from Kent?
I might suggest Anthony Rose's Microbial Physiology.
Nitrosomonas in general, and Europea specifically, tolerate a wide range of pH values.
The direct answer to your question- not in any appreciable amount and certainly not enough to warrant messing with your pH.-Dr. James

reading some journal abstracts such as this :

tend to make me believe that my pH is good for the bacteria, and that its pH being too LOW that would cause the water to be toxic to the bacteria.30g goldie tank :1 x Red Cap Oranda 1x Fantail
