Thread: Cenotes Habitat

  1. Default Cenotes Habitat

I am currently attempting to plan out an aquarium resembling the Cenotes of the Yucatan (including a fake human skull to resemble the fact that Mayans sacrificed humans in Cenotes to appease the gods!). I was planning on getting a few species of native fishes, including shortfin mollies (Poecilia mexicana). Does anyone know a store/website that sells these wild mollies rather than the colorful hybrids found in most stores? Thanks for any info.

Maybe try Aquabid.com, I know they have a native fish section.

That's an interesting plan for your tank. What size is it?

I don't actually have the tank, I was going to buy one once I had it all planned out. By the looks of things, it's probably going to end up being at the very least 50 gal. I'm planning on including shortfin mollies, firemouth cichlids, mexican tetras, and perhaps a larger catfish of some kind (still researching that).
