Portions and making choices during the course of a day as well as week.

There were days I knew I was going to have a slice of ice cream cake for someone's birthday so I knew I had to plan what I ate that day so I didn't feel I was going overboard with the ice cream...and... I weighed my portion on a scale.

I also find myself more aware of my hunger signals. I tend to not eat when I'm bored or stressed, but I have to be aware of what is too easy for me to overeat.

Chris, be careful of your alcohol choices. There are people on my plan who go away on cruises who LOSE by walking all over the place and scout out buffets thoroughly before they decide what to eat - sounds like you're doing really well!

I'm not normally a drinker so its not something I will be making a habit of.

We were on holiday so I allowed myself 2 glasses of wine and last night when I arrived on my course, I met an old friend so we went out for one pint of lager to chat.
The pint of lager was 277 calories

Tonight we went to a small family owned Korean restaurant in the city I'm in for my course.
    Had no starter but had a variation on this for my main;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibimbap

What I had was a fried egg, rice, noodles, some grilled chicken, and vegetables. It was really really nice.

Looking it all up and over estimating the calories and fat (and possibly the size of the portions) I get 827 calories and 19g of fat.

My target today was 1900 calories and 77g of fat, I'm at 1600 and 47g.

I've also done an hour walking at reasonable pace as I'm wanting to slowly build up to start doing fitness again.

I'll obviously take into account calories burned from physical activity and adjust my intake accordingly. I would prefer to loose gradually while building my stamina/strength again rather than do too much and take on too little possibly making me tired and run down.
Used to try and keep track of my fish here.....

Ran out of room and time!!!

Instead I'll tell you the best piece of fishkeeping equipment ever....... Algae Scrubber :)

...another helpful 'measure' was put out by one of our TV exercise gurus...

He said NEVER to consume more than 800 calories per any meal. He said if you eat properly, that's a lot of food and no one ever needs more than that for any one meal.

I've been on a ketogenic diet for the last month. I cheated a couple of times (bad me!) but still managed to drop 14 lbs :) I'm down 28 lbs since last October. I first started counting calories then switched to keto in December but didn't stick to it. I started back June 17 with newfound motivation and its been going great so far. Hoping to reach my goal weight by December!

Regarding your walking, may I suggest getting a pair of walking hand weights? I use a 4lb pair (they are each 2lbs) and they have a strap that holds them on your hands. You will burn more calories that way due to carrying an extra 4 lbs.

The healthy way to lose is to aim for .5 to 2lbs per week. One of the things I like about my plan is there is a weekly allowance given for extra food past my daily "count" and I've learned to only eat when I'm truly hungry.

You sound like you are making great choices!

I might suggest that to the wife.

I'm going to build up slowly over a week or 3 and get back into running and doing push ups/situps and using my pull up bar.

Nice to see everyone getting fitter! Way to go guys!

I, sadly, put on 5 lbs since I sprained my ankle in July. I thought this past month would get it off again...back at work, back in dance class, walking dogs more often...but nope...it doesn't want to come off.

Guess I'll have to revisit my eating. I'm eating well, but I think I'm just eating that wee bit (200 calories or so) too much - on a daily basis.

it's easy to do, really really easy!!!!

I haven't been quite as well behaved as I should be lately, I think I must have learned something though.

I weighed in at 94kg about 3 weeks ago and swore blind I'd put some weight on, weighed in yesterday at.........................

92.4kg. So, even being naughty I've still been shifting 1lb a week.

Going to get committed and loose a bit more now, I'm at home for a few weeks but the wife is on holiday in Ireland starting monday so I'm going to use the week to play playstation, do DIY and get some jogging done!!!

Just get focused Rue, you can do it!!!
