  1. Default Oscar+jack dempsey

So i have been looking around and talking to some people in real that i know. Apparently a single jack dempsey and an oscar can be together if there gotten as juvis and if there personality permits it. Would a 75 be able to hold them for about a year and a half without problems after the year I am upgrading to a 180-200g tank then switching the 75 to a piranha tank. Any thoughts or suggestions. And on a side note. I went to big als in hamilton and I have heard some good stuff about it. But was sadly dissapointed. I was expecting a kick butt place but all in all the people I talked to didnt know what there were talking about... And am going to just stick to the close to home petland..... Least they have a nice variety of "exotic" species. But I do agree big als has more products like food and medicine then petland plus a better selection in brands.

I wouldn't put an oscar and a JD together
30g - Planted - need to do some serious rethinking
    20g - planning

I haven't found either species to be particularly aggressive , but it doesn't really mean they'll work together either. I have found JDs to be more aggressive (generally speaking ) than Oscars, and if they tangled the Oscar probably wouldn't come out on top. Oscars are kinda big wussies compaired to the average CA cichlid. While I've never owned a JD that was prone to causing trouble, I've never had one that would back down from a fight either. I have owned Oscars that would pick fights that they only thought they could win. Put those kinds of personalities together and it could mean big trouble.

I have an oscar and a Jd together. Added the JD a while back, he knew immediately the oscar was boss. They actually do really well together, so if you want to try it, just be cautious.

I ahve seen them work together and I have also seen it not work together.
Its hit or miss depending on the attitude of the fish.Starting from juvies is always best. Most oscars don't really develop an attitude until they are about a year old.JDs can develop that attitude a lot earlier.
    It depends on the fish.
