Well, the story ended well for all the fish. The Con got re-homed and the Tiger Barbs all survived their ordeal.

I now have the Tigers with Gold Barbs, 2 Bolivian Rams, a Pleco and a Red Tailed Shark. They all are getting along quite nicely now!46g BF tank - 5 Tiger Barbs, 8 Gold Barbs, 7 Schwartzi Cories, 1 Female German Blue Ram, 1 Red Tailed Shark and 1 Bushynose Pleco. Driftwood, natural rock and all live plants for the environment.

I actually have 7 tiger barbs in a 20g living peacefully with:
1 small CAE
7 diamond tetra (serpae tetra)
6 neon tetra (they were in the tank before the barbs)
(the 20g is a little over crowded so the serpae may leave soon)
