  1. Default Need thoughts on rare plants...

I just got my aquasoil and have just about everything ready to go for this aquarium with the exception of one thing... Plants..

Im prepared to order them I just need some suggestions. Heres what I sorta know I want so far...

Pogostemon Helferi - This will primarily be my ground cover.
Star Moss - Most likely to cover parts of my driftwood (which I've yet to buy)

I dont have much interest in plants I can buy at my LFS. I've been there and done that so this tank should be a little different. It is a 24g nano cube with plenty of light for just about any plant I can think of. I am looking for plants with color / interesting looks. I will take all thoughts - just stay away from things like bacopa Im thinking less common!

Are you planning co2 and ferts? Maybe some of the large Pogostemon species? I'd suggest just going on aquabid or one of the plant special forums and going through the classifieds, that way, you'll know it's available if you find a plant you really like (nothing more bummering than finding an awesome plant on a place like tropica then realizing that it's impossible to get )

I've got about 30 blyxa jap. coming in... they're supposed to be fun plants, but I think they might be a little too similar in height with the downoi. If you do get the downoi to do well and reproduce in great numbers.... shoot me a pm lol

How about Stargrass . . . that stuff has been hard to find when I've looked for it, but I have seen it up for auction on aquabid and ebay irregularly.
36 gallon bowfront - "Hector" the Dwarf Gourami, 3 Peppered Corydoras, "Big Eric" the Rubberlip Pleco, "Killwillie" the German Blue Ram, and 9 Rummynose Tetras, 1 true Siamese Algae Eater

20 gallon long; Planted & Aquascaped (Dwarf Hairgrass, Scarlet Temple, Lace Java Fern, Red Ludwigia) - Female German Blue Ram, 4 Oto's, 11 Neon Tetras

Yea, the only problem with the downoi is finding it... Seems most canadians only ship to canadians on aquabid.. Im pretty sure customs and cost has something to do with it. Anyways, Azgardens.com seems to be my only option for downoi at the moment.

Do you mean star moss? If so, im definitely considering it... However, at the moment Im still leaning towards either glosso or downoi as my carpet. I think this will be a CRS tank so I want only a few tall plants and mostly ground cover.

    Nope, Stargrass. Here's a link:

Stargrass seems like it would be a constant trim to avoid it getting out of hand. Im thinking something with color. Something different... Just havent found it yet...

    Was thinking something like..

Beautiful plant! It's unfortunately had some bad reviews at the bottom of the page. Maybe it's just that seller.
